The HSK 63 high-speed tool holders are made for use on precision CNC routers and machining centers, as well as point-to-point machines with automatic tool changers. The HSK tool holding system was developed in Germany as a set of standards and performance criteria for advanced machining where precision is imperative. HSK shank styles range from A through F with the principle difference being the size of the taper. The HSK 63 tool holders lead to improved quality and productivity as the tool holders are designed to be perfectly symmetrical, our tool holders are precision balanced to G2.5 specification, in accordance with DIN69893 . Additionally, they are anti-rust treated and made from the highest quality steel, case hardened to 58±2 HRC, with a runout tolerance of <0.003 mm.
The HSK 63 F style tool holder is the most popular for woodworking machinery and it comes in several variations, depending on which collet system is being used. ER32 collets have a max tool shank diameter of up to 3/4″ while ER40 and RDO 35 (SYOZ25) collets come in up to a 1″ tool shank diameter. Generally, the ER collets are used on Italian made machines such as SCM, (Routech, Morbidelli) Biesse, Busellato etc. The RDO collets (which have a closer tolerance) are mostly used on the German made machines such as Weeke, Homag, HolzHer, and also on the Northwood, Onsrud and Anderson. The tool holders are interchangeable between machines, so if someone having an SCM Routech CNC machine needs to run a tool with 25mm shank and won’t have the ability with the tool holders that came with the machine, a new tool holder for RDO or ER40 collets is all that is needed! We suggest using tool holder nuts that utilize ball bearings to ensure chatter and slippage are minimized while precision machining.
