This drill bit shank adapter is used when CNC applications call for a drill bit with a set screw flat on the shank to be used in a collet/tool holder setup. The flat land on a drill shank will interfere with concentrically clamping the shank inside the collet (see photo below), and contributes to oval or irregular holes, deflection and other problems. This adapter is an interface between collet and drill bit, featuring a cylindrical shank for accurate collet mounting, and accepting the drill bit for set-screw tightening on the other end.
As shown below, this adapter serves as an interface between collet and drill bit.
