Diamond Premill Cutters for edgebanders such as Biesse, SCM, Brandt, Holzher and others, come in a variety of sizes and designs. Cutter specifications can be 2, 3 or even 4 wing, with PCD diamond brazed tips or diamond insert knives (which are not designed to be resharpened) and with different PCD tip sizes. The size in the diamond tips will determine how many times a tool can be sharpened so it is an important factor to consider when shopping and price comparing. Often, edgebanding machines are shipped with “disposable” PCD tipped premill cutters. This means, at best, it can be sharpened one time before there is insufficient clearance left.
The above photo collage shows some of the variety of typical PCD premill styles. Important for proper fitting are correct specifciations to include countersink depth and diameter (if applicable) as each machine connection is unique.
