Core Box Insert Router Bit - Round Grooves Made Easy

Core Box Insert Router Bit – Round Grooves Made Easy

Core box/ball nose bits are used for cutting round nosed grooves in fluting, reeding and veining in architectural millwork and column production, where a round bottom groove is needed. Our 4096 series insert router bit is designed to produce clean round nose profiles for core box and cove operations in a variety of materials including wood, MDF, composites, plastic and solid surface.

4096 Series Core Box Router Bit – Insert Edge

This popular Insert Core Box Router Bit provides constant diameter and long tool life due to its micro grain carbide insert.  The insert can be rotated 180 degrees for a brand new cutting edge.  By using inserts,  you can quickly adjust the cutting surface by unscrewing the clamping screw and turning the circular tip allowing easy change-over to a new, ready-for-operation area once a part of the tip has become blunt or damaged.  This provides up to 4X the tool life over solid carbide or carbide-tipped tooling and stands to cut tooling cost accordingly.  This tool is available in 3 sizes:  ½” diameter (1/4”R), 5/8” diameter (5/16”R) and ¾” diameter (3/8”R).  Larger sizes of insert ball nose (concave radius) profiles are available, using a different insert cutter from our vast program of precision insert tool bodies.  The fluted molding (image below), is a great example where the insert cove bit provides exceptional economical results.  The rosette profile is produced with a different bottom-cutting CNC custom tool designed for this application.  For more information please contact us.
