Custom Replacement Carbide Knives for Obsolete & Discontinued Cutterheads

Many industrial woodworking manufacturers continue to operate high-quality profile cutterheads long after the original tooling manufacturer has discontinued the product or gone out of business.

Finding replacement carbide insert knives for these cutterheads can be difficult, particularly when original part numbers, technical drawings, or replacement inventories are no longer available.

GDP Tooling manufactures precision-ground solid carbide replacement knives in-house at our Marietta, Georgia facility. Our custom insert manufacturing capabilities support a wide range of profile cutterheads used on shapers, moulders, tenoners, CNC routers, and other industrial woodworking equipment.

Replacement Knives for LRH, Howema, DeHart & Other Cutterheads

We manufacture replacement carbide profile knives for cutterheads originally supplied by LRH Industries, Howema, DeHart, and other manufacturers.

Our capabilities also extend to older or unidentified cutterheads where suitable replacement inserts are no longer commercially available.

For Stehle and other established tooling brands, we can evaluate replacement knife requirements for older or discontinued cutterhead designs.

Precision Profile Knife Reproduction

Using an existing carbide knife, suitable sample, or dimensioned technical drawing, GDP Tooling can evaluate the cutting geometry and mounting requirements for a custom replacement insert.

Our precision profile grinding equipment allows us to reproduce cutting profiles for applications including:

  • Raised panel cutters
  • Cope-and-stick cabinet door tooling
  • Tongue-and-groove cutters
  • Decorative edge profiles
  • Moulding and architectural millwork profiles
  • Specialized profile cutterheads

Carbide grade selection can also be tailored to the workpiece material, including solid wood, engineered panels, and abrasive composites.

Preserve Your Existing Cutterhead Investment

A discontinued cutterhead does not automatically need to be replaced simply because the original carbide knives are unavailable.

When the cutter body remains serviceable, accurately manufactured replacement knives can help maintain existing production profiles and avoid the cost of purchasing entirely new tooling.

Request a Custom Replacement Knife Quotation

If your replacement carbide insert is not listed online, contact GDP Tooling with as much information as possible, including the cutterhead manufacturer, original part number, knife dimensions, profile drawing, or an existing sample.

Our team can evaluate the replacement requirements, confirm manufacturing feasibility, and provide a quotation.

Custom replacement knives are subject to technical feasibility and applicable intellectual property restrictions.
