Solid carbide spirals may look similar, but they differ significantly in performance and durability. The carbide grade and binder composition play a major role in tool life and performance, especially when machining diverse materials. This section includes our standard solid carbide selection: ball-nose up-cut bits, chip-breakers, compression bits, up-cut and down-cut bits, roughers, and O-flutes for plastic machining. Our popular solid carbide spirals feature 2- or 3-flute designs, with 3-flute bits supporting higher feed rates. Proper chipload maximizes tool life, preventing breakage and wear. We offer finishing bits in three carbide grades—one for solid wood, one for wood composites with HPL, veneer, or plastic laminates, and a special grade for melamine to withstand aluminum oxide.
